What we collect
The information
we collect.
We collect only what we need to run lessons, take payment, and keep your account working.
- Account identity.Your email, first and last name, and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
- Student profile.If you learn on Syren, the optional details you share to get matched with a teacher: your goal track, genres, artists you look up to, a free-form note about your goals, prior training, and an optional per-session budget.
- Teacher profile & application.If you teach on Syren, your application details (years teaching, genres, an optional audio/video reel link) and public profile (bio, photo, intro video).
- Lessons.Bookings, schedules, and lesson notes (teacher notes shared with you, the teacher's private notes, and your own private notes).
- Payments.A reference to the payment our processor created and the amounts involved. We do not store your full card number — that lives with our payment processor.
- Device & push.A push-notification token and platform (iOS, Android, or Web) so we can send you lesson reminders and updates.
Live lessons

Lessons happen over a real-time audio/video connection provided by Agora.
- We ask for camera and microphone access only during a live lesson, so you and your teacher can see and hear each other.
- Lessons may be recorded and securely stored for a short period of time to ensure safety, resolve disputes, and maintain quality assurance on our platform.

- To match students with teachers and schedule, run, and review lessons.
- To process payments and pay teachers.
- To send lesson reminders and account notifications.
What we don't

For clarity, here is what Project Syren does not gather.
- We do not collect your location.
- We do not access your contacts.
- We do not use advertising identifiers or sell your data to advertisers.

We share the minimum necessary with the services that make Syren work. Each has its own privacy policy.

Your rights
Your rights &
account deletion.
You are in control of your account and the data tied to it.
- Delete your account.You can delete your account at any time from Settings inside the app. Deleting your account removes your personal information (we scrub your name, email, photo, and profile) and your push-notification tokens.
- Active lessons first.If you have an upcoming or in-progress lesson or an active lesson package, you'll be asked to complete or cancel it before deleting, so no live lesson or payment is left in limbo.
- Records we must keep.Some information is retained where we're legally required to — for example, our payment processor (Stripe) keeps payout and tax records on its side per its own retention policy, and a counterpart's lesson history is preserved so their records stay intact.

Project Syren is intended for people aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
