with us.
By creating an account or using Project Syren, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
- Eligibility.You must be at least 18 years old to use Project Syren.
- Your account.You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized use.
- Acceptable use.Use Syren for its intended purpose — learning and teaching singing. Don't harass other users, infringe anyone's rights, attempt to break or abuse the service, or use it for anything unlawful.
How Syren works
A marketplace
for lessons.
Project Syren connects students with independent vocal teachers. We provide the platform; teachers provide the instruction.
- Independent teachers.Teachers on Syren are independent professionals, not our employees. They set their own rates and run their own lessons; we are not responsible for the content or outcome of any individual lesson.
- Live lessons & safety.Lessons happen over a live audio/video connection. To ensure the safety of our community, audio and video from sessions may be recorded and temporarily stored. Teachers stream any music from their own licensed sources.
- Encouragement, always.Syren is built on a language of encouragement. There is no public comparison scoring; the experience is aspirational, not competitive.
Payments
Payments &
teacher payouts.
Payments are processed by Stripe. By booking or teaching a paid lesson you agree to the pricing shown at the time and to Stripe's terms.
- Lesson revenue split.Teachers receive 80% of lesson revenue and Project Syren retains 20%. Founding teachers receive a 90/10 split for an introductory period as a welcome bonus.
- Notes & tips.Notes are in-app currency students can use to tip teachers. On Notes/tips the split is 90/10 in the teacher's favor, and a portion of every Note pack funds community scholarships.
- Payouts.Teacher payouts are handled through Stripe Connect. Stripe keeps payout and tax records on its side per its own retention policy.
Cancellations
Cancellations &
credits.
Our cancellation policy is designed to be fair to students while respecting teachers' time.
- Teacher cancellations.If a teacher cancels, the student receives a credit. For late cancellations (under 24 hours) the student also receives a goodwill bonus, funded in part by the teacher per the policy shown at booking.
- Refunds.Refunds and credits for a given booking are computed by the cancellation policy in effect at the time of the lesson and surfaced to you in the app.
- Emergency grace.Teachers have a limited, no-questions-asked emergency grace allowance so genuine emergencies don't unfairly penalize them.

liability.
We work hard to keep Syren running well, but the service is provided as is.
- No guarantee of results.Vocal progress depends on many factors. We don't guarantee any particular learning outcome from using the app.
- Service availability.We may update, suspend, or discontinue features. We aren't liable for interruptions outside our reasonable control.
- Limitation of liability.To the fullest extent permitted by law, Project Syren is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
- Changes to these terms.We may update these terms; the current version is always available here in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
